We are pleased to present a new article in our new ‘Me and My Dunlops’ series. This is dedicated to the adventurers among you, where you tell us the places that you and your Dunlop’s have explored, sites you have seen and where exactly your tyres have taken you.

Preliminary stage
We opted to change our tyres before departing and we needed a tyre that was able to combine close-to-racetrack tyre adhesion on dry ground, optimum drainage & excellent predictability on wet ground, and not to forget an assurance of longevity so that we would not be forced to change during the journey.
José, a motorcycle professional, advised us & guided us towards the Dunlop brand and the Sportmax Sportsmart, the latest model in the range & the only mount that can cater for all of our needs.
Friday 07 May 2010
Departure from Dardilly (69) Our team makes a stopover near the starting point to enjoy a meal: Philippe receives us at CRS46, a centre of culinary excellence, for a well-deserved snack following the 10 kms we have travelled. As we take to the road again, Fabrice’s superb Ducati has already broken down… We first think of a feverish state associated with the adventure in store for the beautiful Italian, a probable sabotage of its happy owner… But no!!!
José (nicknamed ‘nimble fingers’) finds the fault & without a diagnostic case, of course!!! 2 HS relays are involved…

Nimble fingers at work again brilliantly.

And then there is a mandatory halt at the petrol station, as we will have a long journey this afternoon to reach Marseilles & the Napoleon Bonaparte Ferry.
This stopover for petrol reveals a nice surprise: a small mistake had been made during the ‘incognito infiltration’ operation based on the new Corse 2A number plates: 2 motorcycles have the same plate - those belonging to José & Philippe.
And so we are ready to take out tools for the second time during the day, the team has only travelled 30 km, but José manages to get delivery of his compliant plate to the station.
Luckily our team does not suffer any further inconvenience before reaching Marseilles.
The journey is an opportunity this time for us to appreciate all of the Dunlop Sportsmart’s qualities over nearly 350km.
Despite a section of the journey in difficult climatic conditions, we have a great time as far as Marseilles plus a single wish: to continue to enjoy ourselves & take advantage of the roads on the Isle of Beauty...
We will be based at Porticcio during our stay.

From 08 to 14 May
There are daily excursions with a new place to discover every day, AJACCIO, CARGESE, PROPRIANO, PORTO VECCHIO, BONIFACIO, SOLENZARA etc.
The Ducati broke down twice again...
The FJR fell... luckily while stopped... the stand is occasionally a friend that does not wish you well!!
We drove on different types of surfaces (more or less abrasive asphalts, not to forget beach sand from time to time) We drove with impressive temperature differences for springtime, but luckily more often on dry surfaces than on wet ones.
Sodden surfaces absolutely did not hamper our progress, and the feeling of confidence acquired on dry routes was largely confirmed in wet zones.

To conclude
The Corsican adventure is a total of 3,000 km travelled in one week: we are all daily motorcycle users and are all unanimous about the qualities of Dunlop Sportsmart.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the road-holding on dry ground thanks to NTEC technology & even more specifically on wet ground. The longevity of the tyre will ensure we enjoy some more great trips around the Lyons region before the end of its lifespan.
A wonderful adventure.
Thank you Dunlop!!!
