A significant portion of the noise generated by vehicles can be attributed to tires. By choosing tires with lower noise ratings, we can help to make our towns and cities quieter places.

The EU rating measures the external noise of the tire in decibels.
The noise class is also shown. One black wave indicates the best noise performance – at least 3db below forthcoming European tire noise limits. Three black sound waves indicate poor noise performance – somewhere between the current legal limit and the future legal limit.
Decibel levels use a logarithmic scale. This means that a few decibels represent a big difference in noise levels. In fact, an increase of just 3dB doubles the amount of external noise a tire produces!
